Green Ideas For Life Video Scholarship Competition

Five $500 Scholarship Prizes Available!

San Diego, CA - October 12, 2009 - The San Diego Air & Space Museum, along with Ford Motor Company Fund, is encouraging everyone to help make the Earth a better place by offering five $500 scholarships as part of the 2009 "Green Ideas for Life" video competition. Interested filmmakers must submit a one to two- minute video illustrating the changes/actions they and others could do in order to make the world a greener place. The video must answer the following questions:

  • What idea do you think you or others could do that would green the world?
  • What needs to be done to make your idea a reality?
  • Why should you and others do it?

Rules

  • Video must be at least 1 minute and no longer than 2 minutes
  • Competition is open to San Diego County students ages 6 to 18

Submissions will be judged on:

  • Originality of Your Green Idea
  • Quality of the Video/Filming
  • Presentation Skills

Submissions must be received by November 8th at 11:59p.m.

Winners will be notified by November 13th, 2009 and will be invited to the San Diego Air & Space Museum International Hall of Fame Gala on November 21st, to receive their scholarship on stage in the presence of honored guests such as Dr. Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, and the Blue Angels.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is California's official air and space museum and education center. The Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, and it was the first aero-themed Museum to be accredited by the American Association of Museums. Currently on display: THE DA VINCI EXPERIENCE, a special exhibition featuring remarkable reproductions of Leonardo da Vinci's most famous artwork and interactive replicas of his mechanical devices created more than 500 years ago.
