Come Soar with Us During SD Air & Space Museum's Aerosummer 2007

(February 27, 2007) - Looking for something affordable this summer and your sons or daughters still have tons of fun? Then look no farther than the San Diego Air & Space Museum's Aerosummer 2007 Summer Camp! The Education Department has added a new class this year while expanding one to include the entire family!

Descriptions indicate the students' grade levels as of Fall 2007. All camps run Monday - Friday from 9am-noon, except Fights of Fancy. Up, Up, and Away!

Grades 1-2
June 25 - 29, Balboa Park
This program introduces and explores flight through balloons, kites, gliders, rockets, and more.
$80 for members/$100 for non-members

Flights of Fancy

For Kids and the young at heart!
Grades 4 - Adult
June 30, One Day Program in North County - 9am - 4pm
This fun one-day camp is now for kids AND adults! Don't just drop off your child - with this camp you get to join the fun. Spend Saturday together flying radio-controlled model aircraft and driving radio-controlled cars with members of the Palomar RC Flyers. Campers of all ages will also build and fly a rubber powered model.
Camp costs just $25 for a two person team and includes lunch.

Silent Flight

Grades 3 - 4
July 9 - 13, Balboa Park
Students try out different kite designs, build hot-air balloons, and experiment with gliders as they investigate ways of traveling on the wind.
$80 for members/$100 for non-members

Aviation Simulations - NEW FOR 2007

Grades 5-12
July 16-20, Balboa Park
Finally, computers games used for education. Students will learn the basic of flight, navigation, and instrumentation while testing their skills on computer simulators. Additional simulators will be used throughout the week along with instruction by actual pilots. Great for the future pilot!
$80 for members/$100 for non-members

Destination Mars

Grades 3-4
Jul. 23-27, Balboa Park
Come explore Mars with us! Learn the history of our fascination with the Red Planet, see what it's like to get information to and from Mars, search for life, and build and launch an aquarocket.
$80 for members/$100 for non-members

Second Stage

Grades 6-12
July 30 - Aug. 3, Balboa Park
An advanced rocketry program for students familiar with model rocketry. Students construct individual rockets and work in teams to build a multi-stage rocket.
$80 for members/$100 for non-members

Space Adventures

Grades 5-6
Aug 13-17, Balboa Park
From Chinese "fire arrows" to the International Space Station, students learn about the people and spacecraft that have made space exploration possible. They also apply space science by building and launching their own model rockets.

First Flight

Grades 1 - 2
Aug 20-24, Balboa Park
