Family Days

On the Second Saturday of Every Month

Building activities, take-home projects, and hands on learning about favorite topics for adults and kids to explore together. Fun for the whole family!

Programs last 45 minutes and take place at 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm.

Activity Descriptions

  • Recycled Robots
    We'll supply the tubes, boxes, cans and other interesting materials, you supply the imagination to build your own pretend robot.
  • Puff Gliders
    Straws and custom wings create a glider that flies using your breath!
  • Sled Kites
    Easy to build and easy to fly, celebrate spring by making this fun kite!
  • The Third Annual Paper Airplane Festival presented by Bank of America
    Participate in an inspirational and educational day, enjoying hands-on experiences while gaining insight into the science of flight by creating many fun types of paper airplanes. Through these fun activities attendees can learn the four fascinating forces of flight. They can also enter paper airplane competitions, including for longest flight, longest air time, and precision flight. The museum has also applied to the Guinness Book of World records to attempt to set a new record for the most paper airplanes launched at the same time.
  • Space Day Celebration
    Engage in kid friendly hands on activities while you meet local aerospace professionals.
  • Foam Flyers
    Made from foam plates, this nifty little gliders are great fliers!
  • Aquarockets
    Learn how to use a soda bottle, bicycle pump, and some water to create and launch an amazing high-flying rocket!
  • Eagle Gliders
    Learn the parts of an airplane as you build this simple balsa wood glider. Adjustable control surfaces allow you to direct its flight.
  • Paper Kites
    Build your kites, then enjoy flying them in the park!
  • Foam and Balsa Gliders
    Easy to build and fly, these gliders are great for experiments.
  • Straw Rockets
    High flying fun – powered by your own breath! Experiment with fin shapes to create the most accurate rocket, then try to land on target.
