P-26 Peashooter Soon To Be On Display
Immediately following the Museum's Hollywood Studs & Starlets event, the Museum’s scratch built Boeing P-26 “Peashooter” will be coming back downtown from Gillespie Field for display on the gallery floor. This immaculate reproduction is now complete after eleven years of meticulous construction in the basement and the application of an extremely colorful paint job, as was the style in the early 1930’s. The dedication by our restoration volunteers is beyond admirable-it is unbelievable. Please stop by the Museum and enjoy the latest addition to our very special collection.
Centennial of Naval Aviation Exhibit
Coming early this month, we will be opening our latest exhibit on the Centennial of Naval Aviation. While this is actually the second area given over to the subject, the centerpiece of the new exhibit located at the beginning of WWI will be our own Curtiss A-1 Triad, and it will feature a historic timeline detailing significant events, battles, aircraft information, and historic biographies of heroic individuals from the Navy and Marine Corps.
